  Coventry Half Marathon Training Programme

If you can walk without pain you will be able to complete the Coventry Half Marathon 2010.

The key to achieving any goal is planning and support. I will provide advice and a plan for you to follow to make completing the Coventry (or any for that matter) Half Marathon a realistic goal.

Training will start at the end of February and I will provide a forum for the half marathon; in this area you can ask for advice, chat with others who have the same goal, swap running routes and offer support and advice to each other.

I must point out that it is important to consult with your GP or medical professional if you are new to exercise.

Here's your guide to 'Getting Started'

Below are some of my favourite running accessories that will help to get you started.

The updated version of my watch, really easy to use and gives an accurate measurement of pace and distance. A heart rate monitor can be useful for monitoring performance. Great gadget for your ipod; roughly measures distance, but provides motivation along the way. My wife loves hers.
Every runner needs to use one of these for Self Myofascial Release (a method which prevents common runners injuries). Email me for details on using correctly. Helps to prevent blisters and chaffing. Necessary for running during the dark nights and mornings. It helps motorists to see you.
It is important to take on fluids when running. These drinks bottles make it more comfortable. When running over 6 miles it is necessary to drink more water on route, this also storage space for keys etc I find these to be more comfortable on longer runs than the bum bags.
